"Engraved with bands and scroll work, separated by medallions representing knights in costume and various birds. On the upper part of the backplate are two medallions separated by engraved bands representing two warriors holding a shield.
Provenance: Purchased by William Randolph Hearst from Arnold Seligmann, Rey & Co., Inc., April 24, 1924."
