Description

"Carved in pear-tree wood, on each side a figure, one Venus and the other a Soldier. This gun comes from the Castle Ditterabach, Bavaria; and was later in the Collection Licht, Berlin. The figures are said to be carved by Conrad Meit. Provenance: Purchased by William Randolph Hearst from Boehler & Steinmeyer, Inc., Munich, Germany, January 18, 1930; sold for $317? "
