Description

Emblematic of the god Horus wearing the double crown of Upper and Lower Egypt and Uraeus, the feathering indicated by delicate engraving all over its body.

Provenance: Purchased by Henry Oppenheimer from the Bagnell Collection, 1902; purchased by William Randolph Hearst through William Permain, Oppenheimer Sale, 1936, lot # 61, $1,609.51; sold to Brummer Galleries Inc., New York, 1940 for $1,000; offered for sale Parke-Bernet Galleries Inc., New York, Brummer Estate Sale, 1949, lot # 68.
