Description
Decorated with etched border of a foliated design upon a fine granular ground, in the style of Valentine Siebenburger. The skull of finely moulded form with pronounced comb and roped crest; at the base of the skull are two latten aiglettes chased with a rose pattern. The ventail is slotted upon the dexter side, and a bolt presumably for the attachment of the buffe. The colletin plates embellished with latten-head rivets.
Provenance: Purchased by William Randolph Hearst from Christie, Manson & Woods, London, April 17, 1923 through William Permain, May 4, 1923.
