Description

"Having a large fluted ball pommel, both this and the stock being elaborately and well inlaid with engraved buck-horn; the lock is of bright steel and fitted with a safety catch on the opposite side. This bears an armorer's mark (Nuremburg?); the barrel also bear's the armorer's mark and is dated 1594. In fine condition. From Collection of Cornelia, Countess of Craven, Coombe Abbey, Coventry. Provenance: Purchased by William Randolph Hearst from Sotheby, Wilkinson & Hodge, London, March 1, 1923 for $184.92; sold to Gimbel Bros., Inc., May 26, 1941 for $142.50."
