"the lock-plate free from decoration, octagonal smooth bore barrel, the entire surface of stock elaborately inlaid with stag-horn decoration, depicting figures and grotesque animals. Provenance: Purchased by William Randolph Hearst from Sotheby & Co., London, England, June 20, 1929 for $82.73; sold to Gimbel Bros., Inc., September 30, 1942 for $167."
