Description

"Light pierced blade and long point, etched and gilded. Octagonal shaft, with inlaid ivory at angles. Wheellock pistol barrel in end of shaft closed by an ornamental plug held in place by a spring. Provenance: Purchased by William Randolph Hearst from The Sam Austin Sale, American Art Galleries through The American Art Association, Inc., April 26, 1917 for $350; sold to Gimbel Bros., Inc., July 26, 1941."
