Description

"The stock of walnut-wood, inlaid upon the near side of the butt with a bear and a hound, the steel lock is provided with a lever and mechanism for setting the wheel, thereby doing away with the spanner. From the Beardmore Collection. Provenance: Purchased by William Randolph Hearst from Christie, Manson & Woods, through Duveen Brothers, London, England, January 23, 1922 for $117.87; sold to Gimbel Bros., Inc., February 28, 1941 for $129.50."
