Description

"Hexagon bore. On the breech of the bore an inscription. The walnut butt and stock richly inlaid with bone and mother-of-pearl and silver wire, the wire formed into a scroll design, the bone and ivory and mother-of-pearl inlay representing grotesque animal figures and men. Signature H.N.M 1653 engraved on stock. The trigger guard is engraved with the figure of Fortuna, the lockplate richly engraved and initialed B.R. With spanner. Provenance: Purchased by William Randolph Hearst from Sammlung Lanna Sale through Rudolph Lepke, Berlin, March 21-29, 1911. "
