Description

"Hexagon bore. On the breech of the bore the inscription ""JOHAN STIFFTER"", and a floral scroll design. The butt richly inlaid with bone. On the side of the butt the bust figure of Julius Caesar within a floral wreath, the rest of the decoration representing fruit and animals. The lock plate and hammer richly chiseled, the figure of Diana is represented on the hammer. Provenance: Purchased by William Randolph Hearst from Sammlung Lanna Sale through Rudolph Lepke, Berlin, March 21-29, 1911. "
